We believe healthy things grow. Your spiritual growth is not only our church's goal, but our biblical mandate. Whether you desire to begin following Jesus, or you’ve been a Christ-follower for decades, we believe you have next steps to take in your relationship with Jesus and His church. Through this ongoing discipleship journey, our goal is to help you identify your next steps, and take them. In doing so you will continue to bear the fruits of spiritual growth and Christlikeness.
A Pathway for Spiritual Growth
Spiritual growth, or discipleship, is a lifelong journey. At the Church of God at West Rome, we want to help people grow in their relationship with Jesus step by step. Our discipleship pathway is designed to guide you from the beginning of faith to becoming someone who helps others follow Christ. Each step builds on the previous one as you grow through Foundation, Formation, Transformation, and Multiplication.
Foundation
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 3:11
Starting Your Life with Christ
Every strong life begins with a strong spiritual foundation. These first steps help you begin a relationship with Jesus and establish the core truths of the Christian faith.
Salvation
Salvation is the beginning of a relationship with Jesus Christ. When we trust in His death and resurrection enough to offer godly repentance and accept forgiveness of our sins, we receive new life and begin following Him. If you are exploring faith or have recently made a decision to follow Christ, this step will help you understand what it means to walk with Him.
Baptism
Baptism is the first step of obedience for every believer. It is a public declaration that you have placed your faith in Christ and that your life has been made new through Him. Baptism celebrates the gospel—dying to the old life and rising to walk in new life with Jesus.
Foundations Class
The Foundations step helps believers build strong spiritual habits and a clear understanding of the Bible. In this class you will learn essential practices such as studying Scripture, prayer, and living out your faith in everyday life.
Formation
Once your foundation is established, the next step is spiritual formation—allowing God to shape your life through His Word, relationships, and the work of the Spirit.
Growing as a disciple

Membership
Membership is about becoming part of a spiritual family. In this step you will learn about the mission, vision, and values of our church and how we pursue discipleship together. Membership is a commitment to grow with the church and participate in God’s work through it.
Discipleship
Discipleship is the ongoing process of becoming more like Jesus. Through small groups, Bible study, and intentional relationships, disciples learn to apply God’s Word and grow in faith, character, and obedience.
